Tests
Administration
Use the admin interface at ~/LabAdmin/TestAdmin.aspx which is also available as Manage Tests in the Lab Admin top navigation menu.
Name
This is an important field for a test: it is how the test is identified across all interfaces and used in calculations for analyses. The preference is to use underscores ( _ ) instead of spaces to make it clear the importance of the name and preserve it's connection in reports.
Description
The longer form details of the test, which appears as tooltips and footnotes around the DATS interfaces.
Default Value
When an analysis is created from a test, the default value is inserted.
Has Cast Date
When a test's analysis is performed at a future date from a sample being created, it should have a cast (make) date. A common example is ASTM C109 cement cubes: they are made when the sample is created, but not analyzed until 7 days later. The cast date is required to determine the due date.
Default Due & Default Due Units
This is the due date for the analysis resulting from the test. For tests with cast dates, the due date isn't populated until the make date is. Otherwise, the due date is calculated from the sample creation date.
Has Linked Case Date
When making multiples of a given test preparation, those analyses can be linked so that only one entry has to be made for all the cast and due dates to populate. In the common C109 example there are 1 day, 3d, and 7 day breaks (with three cubes at each age). Instead of entering 9 individual cast dates, they're all linked to the first 1 day cube.
Calculated
By checking this box, no manual entry is allowed. See the calculations knowledge base article for more detail.
Associated Equipment
If a test is pulling in a calibration factor, the equipment type will be selected here. Once a test is attached to a sample as an analysis, the equipment will be a selectable dropdown.
Report Decimals
This is the number of digits to the right of the decimal that will be displayed. Maximum precision is stored in the DATS no matter the setting.
Sort Order
The order the tests and their analyses will appear in all DATS interfaces.
Required
When a sample is created, the test will be turned into an analysis for that sample. If not required, the test can be added later.
Testing Group
By grouping tests, they can be made available for entry on the New Sample Cards.
Custom View
For cumbersome entry of large amounts of data, or to simply preserve existing workflows, the custom views are there to present more customizable interfaces for data entry. If not in the custom view, they will appear below the customizations in those sample viewing/editing interfaces.
Active
Uncheck this to retain the data for analyses resulting from the test but prevent future entry.
