Administration

To work with targets, use the admin interface available at ~/LabAdmin/ManageTargets.aspx which is also in the Lab Admin navigation menu.

General Summary

Within DATS, there are three tiers of targets: internal, market, and external. Internal targets are meant for quality control and lab usage. Market limits are when an analysis could potentially impact a customer/consumer of the product being sampled. External limits are those for compliance with third parties like ASTM and governmental organizations like state DOTs.

Once a limit has been violated, it is considered Out Of Spec. A summary of those can be seen from the Lab Admin dashboard and reviewed using the ~/LabAdmin/ManageSamples.aspx interface.

Target

This is the value being aimed at for a particular test analysis. Not used for notifications.

Limit High / Limit Low

Setting one or both will establish the threshold for the limit being violated. Once outside the range, a notification can be triggered to the configured contact group. In reports, the colors will also be shown.
