Lab Equipment and Documents

The Lab Equipment section in DATS is used to keep track of actual equipment, equipment types, and the ability to keep documents for those equipment types which are organized in to configurable document types.
To get to the Lab Equipment section, highlight “Lab Admin” on the navigation bar, then click on the “Lab Equipment”
Add A Document Type
To add a document type, first click on the orange “Manage Equipment Types” link.
Then, click on the “Add Document Type” button in the row of the equipment type you want to add it to. Fill in the name of the document type next to “Description” and click the “Insert” button when done.
Add Document File to Equipment
On the Equipment Admin page, select the Equipment Type you want to add a document to from the drop down menu.
Then, click on the “Upload new 'Your Document Name'“ button.
Choose the file you want to upload by clicking the “Choose File” button next to File Upload and then selecting the file you want to upload. When done, click the “Insert” button.
View Uploaded Document File
There are 3 ways to view an uploaded documentation file.
For the first way to view the uploaded document for an equipment, start at the Lab Equipment admin page, and select the Equipment type you want from the drop down list. Then click the orange “View: YourDocumentType” link.
Alternatively, you can also view the file upload by first clicking the orange “History for YourDocumentType” link, and then clicking the orange “Show File” link for the correct record.
Lastly, you can click on “Calibrations” on the navigation bar menu.
From there, select the appropriate Equipment Type from the drop down menu and then click the orange “View: YourDocumentType” link.
View Document Upload History
To view the document upload history for an equipment, start at the Lab Equipment admin page, and select the Equipment type you want from the drop down list. Then click on the orange “History for YourDocumentType” link of the correct equipment.
This will take you to the document upload history for that equipment.
