Adding Navigation Links

Follow these steps if you need to add a new link under one of the menus in the top navigation.

  1. Navigate to: WebAdmin → Navigation Admin
  2. Under the "Menu Items" heading, click on the button marked "New Menu Item"
  3. Find the new item in the list.  It should look like the picture shown below.
  4. Click on the edit button next to the item.
  5. In the Parent Menu dropdown select the menu that you want the new link to be available under.
  6. For the item text field enter the label you want for the page.
  7. In the URL field enter the URL that you are linking to.
  8. The Display Order field helps determine where the link will appear in the menu list.  The lowest number will be at the top of the menu and the highest number will be at the bottom of the menu.  Set this to a number that will place the item where you want in the menu.  There can be gaps in numbers to allow space for future expansion.
  9. If you want the link to open in a new browser window or tab, check the box for "Open in new Window".
  10. Change "Enabled" from disabled to enabled for the new link to start appearing in the list for the menu.
  11. If you want to restrict who is able to see the link in the menu you can place check marks next to the roles that you want to allow.  If no roles are checked then anyone can view the link in the menu.
  12. Once all changes have been made, click the "Update" button to save the changes.

Selecting roles on the navigation page only restricts who is able to view the link. This does not affect any role restrictions that might be in place on a page linked to in the menu. It will not prevent someone from navigating to the page directly if they are in a role that is not restricted by the page itself and it will not allow someone to view a page if they do not have the role the page requires for viewing.
